However, as the standard width is 45cm, you will still need space to fit it in your kitchen. We receive emails and comments daily from people asking if there’s models that are less than 45cm – An ultra slimline dishwasher.
So, after spending hours of research and contacting many manufacturers, we have finally got to the bottom of it.
In short the answer is no. The good news is, there’s an alternative to an ultra slimline dishwasher.
3 Reasons Why You Cannot Get An Ultra Slimline Dishwasher
The obvious reason is because they’re not available on the market. Which for some is a huge frustration. But during our research we found out exactly why you can’t find one.
Here we explain the main factors.
1) Making It Slimmer Than 45cm Will Compromise Quality
We spoke to manufactures, and we asked the question why can’t they make them. Some said they can, but the ability of the slimline dishwasher drops drastically, when you trim it down.
So much so, these brands do not want their names attached to a bad product, which is fair enough.
Removing the 5cm means every component has to adjust as well.
For example, the spray arms will be redesigned, and it will cause water pressure inside not to be a sufficient amount to clean to a high standard.
2) Cost Too Much To Build
As stated, all the nuts, bolts and components will need to be adjusted. Therefore a whole new design will have to be made.
According to the companies we contacted, this will cost a significant amount of money, as the parts would need to be bespoke.
Ultimately, an ultra slimline dishwasher would cost more than five times that of a standard slimline, which will become too pricey for the majority of buyers, when there’s a much cheaper alternative available.
3) Not Enough Demand
Okay, we get contacted daily, and I’m sure there’s many other people out there wanting to know the answer, who haven’t contacted us.
But these huge companies spend millions of pounds of researching. In their findings, they have deemed the market too small to try and really develop a ultra slimline dishwashers.
A Perfect Alternative
Unknown to most, there are such things called Table Top Dishwashers. These wonderful inventions can be integrated into a cupboard space, or even as the name says, sit on your table top.
As small a unit as they are, you cannot get a model that is less than 40cm wide.
The best miniature model on the market, is the Klarstein Amazonia 6, which is 55cm wide, but because the dishwasher sits on the counter top, you do not need to be limited by your restricted under-counter space.

Regarding table tops, a common query we get is “are they as good as other dishwashers?” For what they are and do, some are very good.
The majority have the same features, wash cycles, energy ratings and even place settings.
Of course, in an ideal world, a full size or a slimline would be better for you. But, what makes them more appealing is that fact you do not have to get them plumbed in.
Most counter top dishwashers, can simply connect to your taps using an attachment, and a drainage pipe can be placed in the sink.
As you can see, it’s a great alternative. Plus, another benefit to owning one is it’s portable, and can be taken away with you, if you have a holiday home or caravan etc.
Will Ultra Slimline Dishwashers Be Made In The Future?
In my honest opinion I think so. Seeing how far innovation has taken us, and where technology is going, I do not think it will be long before we start seeing these models being made.
The three reasons listed above, are not going to be hard to tackle soon enough.
More and more people are demanding an ultra slimline dishwasher, and the market is growing. Houses/homes are becoming less about space, and more about a roof over your head.
So these asset’s will become very attractive and desirable in the near future. As that’s the case, companies will start putting there money into research and development for those models.
Eventually a formula will be found, and you will start seeing 40cm wide slimline dishwashers on the market.

Maybe in the future manufacturers will try to produce ultra, ultra slimline versions but until then you will have to plan your space out for the conventional 45cm wide dishwashers.

When you are talking about the Klarstein Table Dishwasher you compare its wideness with that from standard 45cm dishwashers. But actually 43.5cm is the depth not the width you can see on the picture by the given dimensions.

You are right that the width stated above is incorrect – I’ll change that now.
I’ve recently discussed the Klarstein Amazonia 6 in much more detail when comparing it to the new Klarstein Amazonia 8 in this post here, and that post has the correct dimensions of both models. The actual dimensions for the Amazonia 6 are 55cm (w) x 49.5cm (d) x 43.5cm (h), so I think we’re both wrong as 43.5cm is actually the height.
